Shar'els in Oakdale, MN is one of those treasured small family-owned diners where the food is great, the prices affordable and everyone knows your name. In business for 15 years, the name is a combination of Sharon and Helen, the daughter and mother who started it. The family still runs the place. It is open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week from 6am to 3pm. We're regulars there.

Breakfasts are our favorite meal to eat out and this is usually our first stop on a day of geocaching and exploring. They have the usual fare but the portions are generous and you can order items cooked exactly the way you want. They get it right every time. There are daily breakfast specials in addition to an extensive menu or you can mix and match just about anything you want.  Every morning they make huge cinnamon or caramel sticky buns. They are marvelous but we only allow ourselves to get them on special occasions. Breakfast is served from 6am  to 11am Monday through Friday and all day from 6am to 3pm on weekends.

There's  a different lunch special each day which consists of the good food that mom used to make like meatloaf and roasted chicken. They make great chili and a variety of homemade soups which are delicious. We really like their cheeseburgers and potato salad. They also have a dessert special which is made at the restaurant. If you are lucky you can get a sample of a new dessert recipe they are trying out.

If you're on the Gateway Bike Trail, you go right by it.  It's right across the street from the Gateway Cycle Shop. The Gateway Bike Trail, BTW, has over 40 active geocaches on it.  It's great for bike caching.

If you prefer to geocache without the bike, there's dozens within a five minute drive or less.

So if you are ever in the neighborhood, give Shar'els a try. You won't be disappointed.

Bon appetite....The Cachemanian Devils
