West Yellowstone, Montana is the town at the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. As you can imagine it is a town which caters to tourists who are visiting the park. In general the town has a western theme to it. One of the many small restaurants in town is the Beartooth BBQ on Canyon Street. Nestled in amongst some tourist establishments, we almost walked right past it. It's a classic unpretentious BBQ place with simple tables, a bar, friendly service and great food. It specializes in barbecue meats and sandwiches - pork, beef, chicken, brats, hot dogs, burgers plus fries and slaw. If they get the antennae adjusted right and the weather cooperates, you can watch TV too.
I first discovered it while taking my son Bravo Lima to Yellowstone Park. We had been out geocaching in the Hebgen Lake area and were starving. We enjoyed the food so much, we went back several times during that trip, even when we were staying at Old Faithful. KidsRN and I made sure to go there on our first trip to Yellowstone two years later. We have continued to make it part of our trip plan whenever we go back to Yellowstone or just passing through. So if you are looking for good barbecue be sure to stop in at the Beartooth BBQ and enjoy.
