For those of you who fondly remember the diners and drive-ins of the 50's and 60's or wish you did, the 4 Seasons  in Mahtomedi, Minnesota is the place for you. From the glass brick front to the dining counter and the booths, this restaurant has friendly, casual atmosphere that made those places so popular. The menu has your usual favorites plus some added pleasures such as  bison burgers, homemade root beer and homemade soups. The  cakes are  home baked and the ice cream is delicious. During the summer hours, drive-in service is provided by carhops although I don't believe they're on roller skates. That's when the place is packed with families enjoying the nice weather. You'll see us among them after a day of geocaching and exploring. We don't need GPS to find this place.

Unlike some places that are built new to look retro, this is the real deal. The current owner started it 36 years ago as the 3 Seasons, but recently changed its name to 4 Seasons.  You may see it listed either way and it has signs for both outside. So if you want to escape to a simpler time and place, go to the 4 Seasons, sit at the counter and have a burger, fries and a malt. I can almost hear saying Elvis, "Thank you. Thank you very much."  (Alpha6, BTW, does a great Elvis imitation.)
